We are passionate about New Zealand soils and plants. We recognise how fortunate we are to live in a country that is still so closely connected with its natural environment and we also believe we are in a privileged position to still effect positive change that will result in the long-term and sustainable stewardship of one of our most precious resources - the soil.
KIWICHAR was essentially borne of a love of soils and the environment. We wanted to find a 'better' solution to the issues facing our soils and environment i.e. chronic soil erosion, the leaching of contaminated groundwater, and loss of soil integrity that we were observing through our work on a daily basis. Regional Councils and progressive contractors are now increasingly demanding more sustainable and ecologically responsible ways to optimise the growth and health of plants. We recognised biochar’s huge potential in our sector and started refining and developing a range of products that would best suit the New Zealand horticulture sector.
